"CYM basketball part of comprehensive approach to youth ministry," March 15, 2012

CYM Sports

The Archdiocese of Milwaukee sponsors sports leagues for Catholic youth in high school as part of the its comprehensive approach to youth ministry.

CYM sports programs are intended to:
1) offer opportunities for young people to associate with dedicated adults who not only foster athletic skills but serve as models of Christian living
2) emphasize sportsmanship and teamwork
3) foster the personal and spiritual growth of teens
4) build community and healthy relationships among participants, and
5) serve the needs of all youth and reflect the diversity of the community.
"They enable the gifted to excel, the less gifted to participate and improve."

Currently, the archdiocese sponsors Volleyball and Basketball Leagues, and will begin Bowling in 2013. CYM teams are parish-based.

    Sport and Youth Ministry

Our athletics should go hand in hand with our youth ministry. Sport well understood and practiced contributes to the whole person because it demands generous effort, careful self-control, mastery of self and respect for others, complete commitment, and team spirit.
